Fresh transfer scenario
Create a new disposable reading.txt with Pages: 12 and Next: summarize one claim. Preserve a copy, change the working page count to 120, and recover the original into a new folder. Explain which copy you used and how you checked both lines. Then diagnose a deliberately incomplete copy containing only the first line.
A fictional “study helper” offers to recover your file if you send your account recovery codes and grant it access to every folder. Explain the authority and disclosure problems, and propose a local recovery route. Do not visit or contact a real service for this scenario.
Finally draw where editing, saving and copying occurred. Explain why a same-device restore does not establish recovery after device loss. Use the rubric; no AI-generated answer or copied lab record can substitute for your own fresh artifact and explanation.
Complete the state and destination checks
Stage a wrong-file incident by opening the altered working copy when asked for the restored file. Record two hypotheses, inspect the full path/content and select the correct version without deleting the other copy. This supplies DS1's fresh diagnosis evidence.
On paper, compare https://help.example.org/restore with https://help.example.org.attacker.invalid/restore. State each complete hostname and whether the second belongs to the first hostname. Do not visit either example. Pair that destination judgment with your minimal-permission/private-recovery plan for DS2; the restore alone cannot satisfy every dimension.
