Review and Adjust Your System

Retrieval Prompts

  1. What is one sign that your habit is working even before the big result appears?
  2. What does never miss twice protect you from?
  3. What metric are you tracking, and what would be a worse metric?
  4. Is your current habit too easy, too hard, or just manageable?

Compare and Distinguish

Explain the difference between:

  • tracking a streak and tracking the right behavior
  • quitting a system and adjusting a system
  • doing more and doing the next useful thing

Common Mistake Check

Do not respond to one bad week by abandoning the system or doubling the difficulty. Review first, then make one small adjustment.

Mini Application

Run a 10-minute weekly review for your study system.

Use this template:

What worked this week:
What created friction:
What metric helped:
What metric misled me:
What decisive moment mattered most:
Keep:
Simplify:
Change next week:
Difficulty next week: easier / same / slightly harder

Evidence Check

You are done only when the review produces one concrete change for the next week. If the result is only "try harder," the review was not specific enough.
