Guided Lab
Lab: one passage and one evidence trail
Choose one short Launchpad passage and one real public claim about learning or a beginner tool. Do not choose a sensitive personal decision. Keep the scope small enough to audit in the allocated time.
- Read the passage with a question. Close it; write a short explanation, an original example and a condition under which the claim would not apply. Reopen and correct lost meaning, noting the exact section used.
- Copy only the short claim needed for the audit, with title, author or organization, URL and access date. Distinguish what the source says from what you inferred.
- Leave the page and investigate its origin. Follow the cited primary evidence if available. Inspect an independent contextual source; explain whether it is actually independent or merely repeating the same material.
- Identify the population, measured outcome, comparison and any denominator. Recalculate a simple quantitative claim if present. If no numbers exist, state what observation would support the claim rather than inventing data.
- Write a 150–250-word decision note: supported part, unsupported extension, uncertainty, practical next action and evidence that would change your view.
Submit the passage note and source trail with the decision note. An unreachable source is a legitimate finding when logged honestly; the conclusion must then remain appropriately limited. Do not save whole books or articles as a substitute for analysis. AI summaries may suggest a search direction, but a citation is verified only after you inspect the source.
