External Exercises
The beginner route defines the required local practice and 18–26-hour scope. External resources are selective explanations or optional extra practice, not a second compulsory syllabus.
Selective primary reading
- Missing Semester shell introduction: navigation, paths and basic commands for Cluster 1.
- Missing Semester command-line environment: arguments, streams, exported variables, return codes and relevant job-control discussion.
- Missing Semester development tools: editor operations relevant to Cluster 2.
Read a named section, reproduce the matching local exercise, explain the result, then return to the route. Full lectures and their complete exercise collections are optional depth. The local editor task requires vimtutor or an equivalent beginner tutorial; it does not require several editor courses.
Optional additional practice
Use the external resources already listed in Learning Resources only for a named gap. Additional shell challenges, editor games, SSH exercises, tmux, regex courses and full shell-programming tracks add time beyond the core. A paid resource, public contribution or remote account is not required.
Required evidence
Complete the local shell workshop, editor challenge, path/stream guided lab, minimal configuration rehearsal, four workflow drills, quiz and targeted repair. Link existing observations in your shared record. Track the prepared configuration with Git during Module 3 and return it to the Launchpad project; do not require untaught Git commands to enter Module 2.
