Reading Guide

Read the first six local lessons in order and do each mini drill before moving on. Use the Python tutorial only to resolve a specific question: values, control flow, functions, collections, files or exceptions. It assumes some programming familiarity, so it is not the initial teaching sequence here.

If text explanations are insufficient, use the matching CS50P topic from resources, then return to our exercise. Completing the entire external course is an alternative extended route with additional workload, not a hidden requirement of this 38–57 hour module.

After the tracker, complete Lessons 7–8 through the design clinic; use How to Design Programs and The Debugging Book only for the linked concept gaps.

Before asking an AI tutor for help, preserve your failing input and prediction. Ask for a hint or explanation of the error; attempt the repair yourself. Record any generated code, then recreate the relevant logic without it during the assessment.

A repeatable lesson routine

For each of Lessons 1–6, read the concept and predict the first example on paper. Type and run it, compare the result, then make one small change and predict again. Read the expanded walkthrough only after you have a concrete question. Finish the mini drill without copying. These activities use the lesson's existing time allowance; they are not a second complete course.

Before the tracker, work through the three-step calculation in worked examples. If needed, choose one matching optional practice drill and compare your reasoning with the calibration. The extra practice has its own stated allowance. Record actual effort rather than rushing to match the estimate.

Move on when you can explain the current value of each name, predict the next executed line and change a requirement without blindly copying. If one of those fails, repeat a smaller example in that lesson. Keep Classes, frameworks, recursion and package installation for the modules that need them; none is required to complete this first tracker.
