Module 5: Portfolio & Specialization Assessment: Worked Examples
Example 1: Turn a Feature List Into a Case Study
Weak: “Built React UI, API, PostgreSQL, Docker, and CI.” Strong: frame the user problem and constraints, show the vertical slice, explain one difficult decision with alternatives, present verification and operational evidence, disclose limitations, and quantify only measured outcomes.
Example 2: Curate Evidence
Pin three or four coherent artifacts with runnable instructions and clear roles. Remove generated clutter, secrets, raw coursework, broken demos, and claims without evidence. Preserve candid private logs separately.
Example 3: Defend a Decision
Present the strongest rejected alternative, state why it could win under different constraints, then show why current evidence supports the chosen path. A defense that cannot argue the opposition does not demonstrate judgment.
Completion Standard
- Produce a reviewable case study, public-safe evidence packet, recorded defense, external feedback, and an evidence-based specialization plan.
