Reading Guide
Read for a question raised by practice, then close the source and produce a trace
or decision. Full-book reading is not required here. Links below open book indexes,
not the named excerpt itself. Exact filenames refer to the repository source
collection Books/Design Patterns Elements of Reusable/contents/.

These selected excerpts were consulted during authoring; OCR artifacts in book chunks are not runnable code. Use the GoF book index for surrounding context. Head First Design Patterns book index is optional narrative reinforcement for ducks, weather station, remote control, gumball State and Iterator/Composite. Refactoring book index supports incremental moves into and out of patterns. These optional books were not comprehensively reread for this upgrade.
Primary technical references
- Python typing.final: static guidance versus runtime enforcement.
- Python iterator types: exhaustion and iterator protocol.
- Node EventEmitter: concrete listener order/removal semantics; compare with our contract rather than assuming all Observer libraries agree.
- Fowler: Event Sourcing: accepted state changes, replay and external effects.
Optional repository depth paths
reading/Event_Driven_Programming/ contains material for later event-loop and
concurrency study, including Programming Without a Callstack and Nodefz.
Resources/software-development-main/books/design patterns/ contains additional
pattern texts, and its books/system design/ sibling includes
Designing-Event-Driven-Systems.pdf. These files were inventoried, not fully reviewed
or assigned as required prerequisites. Check relevance and edition before using
them; no fabricated chapter/page or reading-time claims are made here.
Retained runtime reading
The incoming runtime extension adds Microsoft's Observer documentation and the Amazon Builders' Library article on safe retries. Use them selectively for subscription ownership and coordinated request identity. The incoming author recorded consultation on 2026-10-22; this merge preserves that provenance rather than claiming a new full-source review. Neither source overrides the two explicitly different local lab contracts.
