Lexical interpretation assessment
Score every gate independently: 0 missing/unsafe claim, 1 partially correct with prompting, 2 independently correct with evidence, 3 transfers to a fresh case and explains limitations. Every LI gate must reach 2; high scores cannot compensate for another failing gate. Original module completion requirements remain required.
- LI1 — Frame identity: trace nested shadowing and two simultaneous closure instances, with creation-time parent arrows and lookup paths.
- LI2 — Evaluation order: predict and test lazy conditional branches, eager unused arguments and nonrecursive let initialization; explain first-error behavior.
- LI3 — Implementation: your starter passes supplied checks plus three independently designed cases; explain closure creation and application without reading the reference.
- LI4 — Fault discrimination: demonstrate a caller-scope mutation failing a specific test and explain why an identity-function test misses it.
- LI5 — Language boundary: demonstrate boolean arithmetic rejection and exact fuel boundary; explain host recursion, unbounded arithmetic cost and why this is not a sandbox.
- LI6 — Transfer and retention: after at least 48 hours, trace a fresh closure case and outline shared mutable binding behavior plus a tail-call implementation strategy. Connect captured state to Module 2 lifetime reasoning and Semester 5 concurrency risks.
Budget 5–8 hours including delayed recall and repair; the 48-hour elapsed wait is not study time. Record evidence path, initial score, feedback, fresh repair input and final score for every gate. A failed gate means incomplete; revisit the corresponding lesson and retry with new values. Disclose AI/reference help. Automated checks cannot establish independent understanding. Consult calibration after attempting the task.
