Module 1: Architecture Fundamentals & Quality: Guided Labs
Lab 1: Driver Interview to Scenario Set
Interview a stakeholder or use the supplied system brief. Extract business constraints and write eight quality-attribute scenarios containing source, stimulus, environment, artifact, response, and measure. Rank the top three and explain the ranking.
Lab 2: Architecture Views That Agree
Produce context, container/component, runtime, and deployment views for one system. Trace one request and one failure through all views. Review names, protocols, ownership, trust boundaries, and deployment boundaries for contradictions.
Lab 3: Tactic Experiment
Choose one quality goal and compare two tactics—for example cache versus read replica, redundancy versus graceful degradation, or synchronous versus queued work. Build a small experiment and measure the stated response.
Lab 4: Tradeoff Review
Write a decision matrix using the same scenarios for three candidate shapes. Record uncertainty and the cheapest experiment that reduces it.
Evidence: scenario set, diagrams, measurements, decision note, and peer-review findings.
